Almost finished just the final touches to be added to my CSS to achieve the look I want, nothing to really blog about this week apart from the fact that I’m loosing my mind and university is possibly the devil. No time for anything at the moment but this unit has been pretty sick compared to other classes.
I’m so happy that this semester is almost over in no way is that a reflection on you Geoff just the fact that I want to get the hell out of Canberra and go home for a month or two.

This week has been pretty crazy with the end of semester drawing closer and all assignments being due in soon.
I haven’t had much time to do this post but I have made the header and the background for my blog theme which I’m really stoked with. I might also include a different font but at this stage it’s only a maybe depending on how much time I have because I’m swamped with other assignments that are all due in at the same time. It was a bit weird for my trying to figure out how to customize my blog theme but once I had carefully looked over the code I started to find the things that I needed to change in order to bring my personal theme to life, things such as changing the backgrounds and the header in the CSS helped me to achieve my personal blog theme.

So I’ve put so much work into my website to get it done by today and I find out that everyone got an extension, probably serves me right for not checking my emails haha, ahwell I’m not really to bummed because it’s just one less thing I have to worry about now.

I’ve now shifted my focus to my blog theme. Since I already have my blog and am comfortable with blogger I’m going to change the theme of that. I’ve already decided that I want to keep my blog theme simple. I want a grungy bodyboarding theme that just consists of a header and a background with maybe a weird font. Although it sounds pretty basic this is what kind of theme that I would want to apply to my own personal blog as I feel it’s what best portrays my interests and style.

This week has been much the same as last week
All I’ve been doing is frantically trying to make next weeks website deadline. I’m pretty close to being finished all i need to do is put in the finishing touches such as a search bar, YouTube video, and Google map which all shouldn’t take very long at all considering they are all just embedded codes that need to be cut and pasted onto my website.
I have decided to keep byethost as my internet hosting service. It’s been a good week in regards to this assignment apart from the fact that I bought my own domain name which i found out was not compatible with the service that I had already become so comfortable with and was not prepared to start all over again with a new web hosting service.

Had the Anzac day long weekend this week which is pretty cool for me because we don’t get this Monday off in NSW haha got to love Canberra.
This week I have started to put CSS to the text in my website.
Ive got the structure laid out and all my designs for my backgrounds and headers are finished. Things are finally starting to come together. I’ve had a bit of a hard time putting text where i want it on the page but after a quick read of the text book it made it very clear.

This week has been so crazy, so many assignments due and so little time, I’m so happy is over.
After 7 weeks I’m feeling pretty confident within this unit. From starting out not knowing anything about web design to this current point in which I’ve learnt to code and link my websites and put them on the web. My new challenge now involves using CSS to make my websites look good and toy design plan. But now it’s time to relax because its holiday time!!!!

This week I started to research services on the internet where I can host my website.
I found providers such as byethost and freewebs which are all pretty new to my knowledge.
I used byethost as an example to see how it works. At the start I was really struggling with how the thing worked and how to use the available tools. After a while I got the hang of it and uploaded one of my HTML pages and to my astonishment I actually got it going which for me was a new thing so i was pretty proud that id achieved something new.

Just like any typical uni student I have left my design reference to the last minute but I’m glad to say I have completed it and am pretty happy with the final product.
Since I haven’t done any web production prior to taking this unit this week I have been looking at the source codes of other sites to see how they are put together. After doing this and reading the chapter in the text book I have started to begin to try to code my website.
I haven’t really done any movements with my design this week as I’m focusing on the idea of coding.

Starting i wanted to post things that i would look at incorperating into my own website design.

from the look of the website, the navigation it uses and content were major attributes i looked at when choosing my 5 source websites.

LAYOUT:
i really liked the centred layout of the big day out website and i would like to make my website along this layout path.

ARTY HOMEPAGE:
iamnone.com has a really washed out acid look to its homepage which i really like

NAVIGATION
riptidemag.com.au has what i think are really clear and easy to use navigatin system for the website in the form of tabs. Whether looking for a image or reading the news its all easy to use and i would like to incorperate this into my own work

INFORMATION SCROLL:
grandflavour.com.au has a scroll bar on there page which i hope to incorperate into my design as i belive it is a good way of delivering information

COLOUR:
iamnone.com also uses a colour scheme that i am keen to use
simple and clean.

CONTENT:

soundwavefestival.com is my reference site for content.I would like to achieve the same sort of content held within this for my own music festival website.

MUSIC:

soundwavefestival.com features background music which is something that i know would be challenging to incorperate into my own website but would like to strive to achieve it.

Public holiday this week hahaha J
There were no lectures this week but I did start to organise the content that i have taken from the stone fest website, I have been pretty lazy but I’ve been doing things like organising the content that i have taken off the stone fest website. By putting things in their specific folders which i have done i think will save me loads of work in the latter stages of producing this website.

This week I’ve started to think of ideas for my website such as how to arrange things on the page. To help me do this I’ve been looking at site which i think are designed well.

By looking at these websites I have started to get the feel of the design that i want for my own website assignment.

This is the first week of classes so there’s not much to say but I’m pretty excited about the potential for this unit. I haven’t really done any web designing or publishing before so i think that this unit will be challenging for me but I’m really keen to give it a go.
As I already had a blogger account for a previous unit I’m just going to keep on using that for my development blog.
The site that i have chosen to do for my major website is stone fest because the information is readily available and not to large.
